Jewish Home Assisted Living Receives $1 Million Challenge

Melanie S. Cohen, CFRE, Vice President of Development

Jewish Home Assisted Living opened its doors and welcomed our first residents to this beautiful facility in June. Each month we welcome more residents as the facility becomes “Home” to the elderly who need the kind of special environment and care assisted living can offer.

This effort came to fruition as a result of much hard work and through the community’s generosity. Initiated with the lead gift from the Kaplen Foundation, the community responded with capital gifts totaling $10 Million. Now, as the facility fills and operations ramp-up, significant funding is required until we reach break even.

Once again, Bill and Maggie Kaplen have stepped forward in response to this need by encouraging the community’s additional support. The Kaplen Foundation has offered a $1,000,000 — 1 for 2 challenge match grant. For every $2 we raise from the community, the Kaplens will match the gift with $1. Meeting the anticipated need of a total of $3 Million will allow the Jewish Home Assisted Living to fill over the next 8 months, while at the same time deliver the quality senior care that meets the very high standards the Jewish Home has been proud of for many, many years and our community expects.
