2007 “Berrie Bash” Enjoyed by All!

Melanie Cohen CFRE, Vice President of Development & Public Relations

On Sunday March 18th, staff, residents, Board members and members of the community celebrated the birthday and remembered the life and philanthropic contributions of Russ Berrie z”l.

“Russ and Angelica were instrumental in helping the Jewish Home during the planning process, including the decision to create a state-of-the-art facility which would include all private rooms, thereby maximizing the quality of life for our residents,” indicated Chuck Berkowitz, Executive Vice President. “Both felt very strongly about not compromising when creating a Home for our elderly. The level of their participation in our capital campaign allowed us to fulfill that goal and has enabled us to positively affect the lives of our seniors every day of the year.”

The Jewish Home’s Berrie Bash events included a lobby display of Russ’ life, a continental breakfast for everyone, as well as recreational programs and activities that took place throughout the day. Highlights included intergenerational visits, musical programs and strolling entertainment. The day was enjoyed by all in attendance — especially our seniors.

The Jewish Home was pleased to have joined in celebrating Russ’ birthday with many other organizations that have benefited over the years from the generosity and philanthropic vision of Russ Berrie and The Russell Berrie Foundation.
