At its April Quarterly Board Meeting, the members of the JHR Board of Governors were treated to a presentation by JHR resident, Jimmy Pinks. Jimmy joined members of the Board at the conference table, enjoyed a lite dinner with them, and then was the first item on a long evening’s agenda. Members listened intently as Jimmy explained how he had been living in Florida, no longer able to live on his own, and how his family had spent months looking for a suitable place for him to live in Bergen County. Jimmy related how at first he was very resistant to moving into the Jewish Home and how with wonderful help from staff, he came to realize how special a place the Home is, and what a wonderful fit it is for him.
Mr. Pinks, a former sales manager, skillfully related how well he is cared for both from a physical and medical standpoint, and how the Jewish Home’s recreational programming has kept him active and engaged. Jimmy cited areas he felt simple changes would improve all the residents’ quality of life, and the Board took note. Jimmy is thankful to his family for finding the Jewish Home, to the Board members for making the Home happen, and to all the staff for their caring.
