After many years of planning, preparation, and two years of construction and anticipation, the Bergen County Jewish community and the Jewish Home family welcomed its newest addition — Jewish Home Assisted Living, Kaplen Family Senior Residence at the official Dedication Ceremonies on Sunday, May 20th.
Future residents, community members, local, state and federal legislators, as well as donors and members of the Jewish Home’s Boards gathered to thank the many who were involved in making this project a reality. State Senator Loretta Weinberg made special mention of both the exceptional financial and leadership roles Maggie and Bill Kaplen made to this project.
A very festive atmosphere surrounded the day’s events with music, balloons and gifts, culminating in a special “Hanukat Habayit” — the affixing of the entryway mezuzah. Guests were treated to a brunch buffet and tours of the facility.
As is its sister facility, the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, JHAL is a non-sectarian facility. It will benefit the entire Bergen, Hudson and Rockland County communities by providing a viable assisted living choice for those seniors who are no longer able to live on their own. The 107 unit facility offers comfort and independence along with a variety of services and amenities to make daily lives dignified, stimulating, safe and secure in the wonderful tradition of caring that is the hallmark of the Jewish Home. Apartments feature studio, one and two bedroom layouts and the building offers a special wing known as “Memory Lane” dedicated to providing special care to those suffering from various levels of dementia.
